To Prolong the life of the motor, we recommend separating hard sludge and water into a bucket before using. This should be skimmed for clear water once water has settled. Usually the following day.
Clean up:
The water and trap should be cleaned once a week in heavy use studios and once every two weeks in private use studios. Failure to do so will void the warranty on the motor.
The clear filter on the line should also be cleaned routinely for heavy particulates that make it into the line.
How to change water/ trap:
Run sink and drain water into separate bucket until pump stops pumping water.
Disconnect power cord .
Loosen trap union.
Disconnect quick connect.
Pour out what is in the trap bucket into a separate bucket and allow it to settle.
You can add a tablespoon of epsom salt to speed up the separation of sludge at the bottom of the bucket and the non particulate water. Clear water can go down the drain.
Sludge / clay slurry can be allowed to dry in a plaster mold. Once dried, it can be tossed or reworked into clay.
Once trap bucket and filter have been cleaned, reconnect the trap union and the quick connect.
Add enough water into the system to have 2-3 inches of water in the sink. If water begins to have an odor, add a teaspoon of bleach.
